About
Johanna Dumet’s unique edition LA VIE EN ROUGE is inspired by her exhibition of the same title at KÖNIG GALERIE in 2021. At its center was PARIS BAR (2021), a large-scale oil on canvas in which Dumet reinterpreted Martin Kippenberger’s iconic 1991 painting of the same name. While echoing his composition, she replaced the artworks depicted within the painting with her own personal favorites—an intimate gesture towards both art history and her individual influences. The work also paid tribute to Paris Bar, the legendary Berlin institution and one of Dumet’s most beloved places. This edition is inspired by her painting from 2021 and conceived as a smaller-scale homage. In the print, a white artwork appears on the wall—this area will be hand-finished by the artist with gouache, making each edition unique.
